Welcome aboard

Britain’s magnificent scenery ranges from craggy mountain to fenland; cliff top to beach; moorland to valleys, woods, forests and lakes and a rolling ‘patchwork quilt’ of fields leading to villages, historic towns, cathedral cities, castles and stately homes. To really experience these delights at close quarters, however, you should travel by bus.

Wherever you choose to go in Britain, its vast public transport network can get you there – efficiently, economically and, perhaps most importantly, in an environmentally friendly way. Travelling by bus also has the advantage of allowing you to enjoy Britain’s widely varying scenery without the stress of having to drive, finding somewhere to park or continuously having to look at the car in front.

To help you get out and enjoy the best of Britain, we have produced Scenic Britain by Bus which is available in PDF format to download straight to your computer. If you prefer, you can request a printed copy to be posted to you. In either case, you can also use the online ‘reader reply’ response form to request more detailed information from the organisations and areas of your choice.

Important information

We are sorry that we have been unable to produce a printed version of Scenic Britain by Bus. We are hoping to be able to produce a new edition at some time in the future. Details will be given on this web site if and when a new edition is published. Until such time we are unable to supply any copies by post. The postal and online Reader Reply services are no longer available. If you require further information about bus services please contact the relevant local authority or operator directly.

As you will probably know – the participating organisations pay to be included in the publication. This provides the necessary funding to cover the costs for design, print and distribution. Unfortunately many of the organisations were unable to offer any financial contribution this year. (There were a few notable exceptions, but not enough to enable the booklets to be published.)

We will try to publish a new edition again in 2014. Obviously at this stage – we don’t know if this will be possible. In addition – we will try to develop and build on our online presence – if we are able to find additional funding for this too!

We have no connection with the publication Scenic Britain by Train.
